BitDefender anti-virus update provides faster SMTP Internet security
An update to the BitDefender anti-virus signature database file will be performed on February 15th, 2007 resulting in a decrease in the number of virus signatures contained in the database by around 35,000 or about 7%. This update will be automatic applied during your normal anti-virus update within 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition.
The number of viruses detected by 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition will NOT be affected.
The reason for the change is that a number of signatures that matched a single virus variant have been replaced with generic signatures that now match entire virus families. This leads to lower memory consumption and a smaller signature database size on disk.
