Easily find virus sources on your network using 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition
A virus can infiltrate your network in many ways. One source is through a user that brings an infected disk or portable USB drive into the company. Use 602LAN SUITE’s powerful anti-virus scanning features to block outbound e-mail that contain a virus and notify your network administrator immediately.
Notify an Administrator when a computer is sending a virus
602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition can be configured to notify all administrators when a virus is sent through 602LAN SUITE’s SMTP server. This makes identifying an infected system as easy as reading an e-mail. To configure this feature, do the following:
- Open 602LAN SUITE, click Settings and then click Advanced Configuration.
- Click the Anti-virus tab.
- Click the If outgoing message is infected tab.
- Click to add a checkmark to the Send a notification to administrator(s) checkbox.
- Click Save to save your settings.

Now, when a virus is sent through 602LAN SUITE from a computer on your network, all administrators will receive a copy of the virus notification. This will include the originating e-mail address.
Use ActiveReports to identify infected messages
The 602LAN SUITE ActiveReports add-on can also be used to identify users sending infected messages. To use ActiveReports, do the following:
- Analyze your log files to generate a report. This is done by clicking the Analyze button on the ActiveReports tab under Advanced Configuration.
- From the Interactive analysis view, click the mail tab.
- Select All LAN from the user select list, and including virus from the
Messages select list. - This will show all viruses sent and received that contain a virus. Look at the Sender field to identify suspect user machines.
