Easily monitor your organization’s Internet usage for abuse
The Internet has become an indispensable tool for every organization. The resources available on the Internet can help your employees increase their productivity which can save you money in the long run. Unfortunately, the Internet can also be a dangerous place, filled with spam, viruses, offensive content, non-work related web sites, and other distractions lurking around every corner. 602LAN SUITE 2004 ActiveReports enables you to quickly and effectively monitor your organization’s Internet usage habits.
Use ActiveReports to reduce e-mail viruses and spam
ActiveReports can be a great tool for protecting your users from spam and viruses. ActiveReports will report mail that was sent or received by the user, messages marked as spam, and messages that included a virus attachment. To access these reports, do the following:
- Open 602LAN SUITE 2004, click Settings and then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the ActiveReports tab.
- Click the Analyze button, then make sure the Interactive view of analyzes (charts, HTTP requests) checkbox is checked, and click Run.
- After the report has been generated, click the Mail tab from the Interactive Analysis View window.
- To add a sender to the SMTP blacklist, click the item in the window, click Add to the Blacklist…, then click Save

NOTE: You may also launch ActiveReports from the 602LAN SUITE ActiveReports icon located in the 602LAN SUITE 2004 Program Group on your Start Menu.
Use ActiveReports to block inappropriate web sites
If you are using the HTTP Proxy to allow your users to access web sites, you can monitor usage activity with ActiveReports as well. The Interactive Analysis view allows you to see exactly what sites your users are going to, and provides a solution to easily block questionable URLs via the Site Access feature.
- From the Interactive Analysis view window, click the HTTP requests tab.
- To filter via user, select the user via the User select list, or select the - All LAN - option to display all URLs accessed by all users.
- To add a specific URL to the blacklist, simply click the URL in the window, click the Add URL into the Prohibited ones.. button, then click Save.

NOTE: The URL display will show ALL URLs accessed, including multiple addresses from the same domain. If there are a great deal of sites listed in the URL window, an easier way to scan for offensive content would be to use the “Domain” drop-down above the URL window. You may block the entire domain by selecting the option from the list and clicking the Add domain into prohibited ones button. If you are using the 602LAN SUITE 2004 Content Filter, URLs that have been blocked by the content filter
are displayed in red. These URLs can not be added to the Site Access feature.
