Enhance 602LAN SUITE Remote Administration with SSL security and IP filtering
602LAN SUITE’s Remote Administration allows you to configure server settings even when you are not in front of the 602LAN SUITE server. If you are running 602LAN SUITE as a service or the server is offsite, use Remote Administration to handle common administration tasks.
Enable and secure 602LAN SUITE Remote Administration
By default, the Remote Administration tool works over the standard WWW port (80). To add additional security, we recommend you change this setting. To enable Remote Administration with SSL security and configure it to use a non-standard port, follow these steps:
- In 602LAN SUITE, click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the Administration tab.
- Enable the Allow remote administration by browser option, and select Administrators only.
- Enable the Use a separate remote administration port option and enter a port in the field to the right. For this example, we will use port 1234, but you may choose any port between 1 and 65534, as long as the port is not in use by another application or service.
- Enable the Use SSL protocol option.
- Click Save to save your settings.
To access Remote Administration, simply go to https://youcomputername:1234/admin/ and enter your administrator username and password. You will also need to configure an SSL certificate in order to use the SSL feature. Follow the directions provided here to configure an SSL certificate.

Enable the Remote Administrator IP filter
Using the configuration above will provide a secure way to remotely administer 602LAN SUITE. You can take security one step further by enabling the IP filter for a defined IP address. This address can be an address on your local network, or any IP address on the Internet. Using the IP filter will block all but the specified IP addresses from accessing Remote Administration.
- In 602LAN SUITE, click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the Administration tab.
- Enable the IP Filter defines access to remote administration and FTP update option.
- Click the Remote administration and FTP update IP filter button.
- For IP address, enter the IP address of your workstation (e.g.: 192.168.1.20).
- For IP mask, enter 255.255.255.255.
- Click Add then OK to save the IP filter settings. Click Save to save your settings.

NOTE: You can add multiple IP addresses by repeating the above directions. If you have a static IP address on your home connection, you can enter your home IP address and 255.255.255.255 for the subnet to enable administration from the comfort of your home.
