Filter offensive content using Site Access
Prevent your users from accessing potentially offensive content by using the Site Access features in LAN SUITE.
Blocking Access to a Site
- Click on Settings and select Advanced Configuration from within LAN SUITE.
- Click on the Site Access Tab
- Make sure at the top it is set to Do not allow access to the following…
- Source IP address: This defines the IP address of the machine you would like to block. If you would like to block a particular machine, you would simply type the IP address. Since you are most likely wanting to block ALL computers on your network from accessing this site, type 0.0.0.0
- Source IP mask: Type the subnet mask of the IP you would like to block. Again, because we are wanting to block this content for ALL users, simply type 0.0.0.0 (note: To only block one user enter 255.255.255.255).
- Destination URL: This is where you type the domain name of the computer you would like to block. For example, if you would like to block yahoo.com and all subdomains, you would simply type: *.yahoo.com
- Click the Add button and the filter will be added.

Import Blacklists for Greater Control
It is possible to import plain text (ASCII) blacklists into LAN SUITE provided that they include ONLY the URLs that are to be blocked. Be aware, however that LAN SUITE will search through these URLs everytime it processes an HTTP request so it requires more processing power than normal.
To import URLs:
- From the Site Access tab, click Import URLs.
- Navigate to the block list you would like to import, select it, then click Open.
- LAN SUITE will process the URLs and automatically add them into the site access list.

If you would like to download an already compiled blacklists*, we have located some at the following URLs:
* These lists are not created or supported by Software602 and we can not be responsible for any complications arising from their use.
