Manage your personal blacklist and whitelist with 602LAN SUITE’s built-in Web Mail Client
Unsolicited commercial e-mail, which is often called spam, is a common annoyance faced by even the most casual Internet user. These messages waste your employees’ valuable time, which in turn costs your organization money. Use the personal blacklist and whitelist feature included with 602LAN SUITE’s built-in Web Mail Client to regain control of your inbox.
Accessing your Anti-Spam Preferences
In order to set up your personal blacklist and whitelist, you will need to log in to 602LAN SUITE’s Web Mail Client. To do this do the following:
- Open your web browser and point it to http://servername/mail where “servername” is the name or IP address of your 602LAN SUITE server.
- Type in your 602LAN SUITE user name and password in the appropriate fields. Click Login to log in.
- Click the Options button, then click the Anti-Spam Settings button.

NOTE: Your personal whitelist and blacklist functions will work with any mail client, but you must log in to the Web Mail Client to manage them!
Adding Addresses to the Whitelist and Blacklist
Once you have accessed the Anti-spam Preferences in Web Mail, you must enable the personal whitelist and blacklist feature to instruct 602LAN SUITE to check the messages against your personal lists. To enable the whitelist and blacklist checking feature, do the following:
- Enable the checkbox Use Whitelist and Blacklist to check incoming messages.
- If you are using the advanced Bayesian filter in 602LAN SUITE to filter your e-mail, you may also check the Automatically
add senders of messages classified by you to Whitelist or Blacklist option. This option automatically adds the user to the appropriate list when you click the “Junk” or “Not Junk” button when reading a message. - Add some users to the blacklist and/or whitelist. To do this, simply type the e-mail address in the appropriate text field under the Whitelist and Blacklist section, then click Add. You can even use wild cards such as the asterisk (*) to block usernames from entire servers (e.g. *@somedomain.com).

NOTE: The personal blacklist and whitelists are independent of the global blacklist and whitelist found under 602LAN SUITE - Settings - Advanced Configuration - SMTP - SMTP Anti-spam settings. This means that each user on the network can have his/her own blacklist and whitelist in addition to the global lists set by the Administrator.
