Activate remote web administration and configure 602LAN SUITE to run unattended as a Windows service
A Windows service starts when Windows is booted and runs in the background as long as Windows is running. You may have other programs that run when you login, but the difference is that a Windows service does not require you to log into the machine, it will run unattended. 602LAN SUITE can be installed as a service, eliminating the need to log into the computer and manually launch the software.
Activate remote web administration
By default, Remote Administration works over the standard WWW port (80). To enable Remote Administration, follow these steps:
- From 602LAN SUITE, click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the Administration tab.
- Enable the Allow remote administration by browser option, and select Administrators only.
- Click Save to save your settings.

NOTE: We recommend that you install an SSL certificate and enable the Remote Administration IP Filter for improved security. Learn more, here.
Installing the 602LAN SUITE service
It is very simple to install 602LAN SUITE as a service. We suggest that you first configure the software to meet your needs using the normal console application. Once you have configured the software, you can install the service by doing the following:
- From 602LAN SUITE, click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the Win Service tab.
- Make sure that Service startup radio button is set to Automatic and that the Service account option is set to System account.
- Click the Install service button to install the service.
- You will receive the message NT service successfully installed. Click OK to clear this message, then click Save to save your settings.
- Reboot the machine to begin the 602LAN SUITE service.

NOTE: Once the Windows service has been installed you cannot launch the 602LAN SUITE console application from the 602LAN SUITE Program Group.
Administering 602LAN SUITE when it is installed as a service
Since you cannot run multiple instances of 602LAN SUITE on the same computer, you will need to use Remote Administration to perform administrative tasks in 602LAN SUITE. This allows you to administer and monitor LAN SUITE from virtually any computer with an Internet connection and a web browser. To access Remote Administration, simply go to http://youcomputername/admin/ and enter your administrator username and password.
If for some reason you cannot access 602LAN SUITE from Remote Administration you can always launch 602LAN SUITE with the following switch that will allow you to quickly access the configuration:
“C:\Program Files\Software602\602LAN SUITE\Lansuite.exe” /config

NOTE: The above example can only be used on a default installation. If you changed your installation directory, please modify the above accordingly.
