Block offensive or harmful content with the Attachment Filter

602LAN SUITE contains a powerful Attachment Filter feature that works together with the Anti-virus engine included in 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition to virtually eliminate any e-mail borne threat. The Anti-virus Edition blocks malicious files via e-mail such as viruses, trojans, and even identifies mail client exploits, while the Attachment Filter allows you to filter attachments of a particular extension. The Attachment Filter can prevent spyware, games, images and other files that may be inappropriate in a business environment from ever reaching your users.

Enabling the Attachment Filter

By default, the Attachment Filter is disabled. This means your users are not protected by the Attachment Filter rules. 602LAN SUITE 2004’s Attachment Filter can be turned on by performing the following steps:

  1. In 602LAN SUITE 2004, click Settings, then click Advanced Configuration.
  2. Click the Attachment Filter tab.
  3. You will now be presented with the Attachment Filter Options. Click the checkbox next to the Check delivered e-mail messages for unwanted attachment extensions option to enable the Attachment Filter.

  2. Click the radio button next to the Deliver message to recipient with unwanted attachment removed option if you wish to simply strip the attachment from the e-mail, or click the Don’t deliver message to recipient radio button if you wish to simply discard the message.
