Notify your mobile device of important messages using a mail rule in 602LAN SUITE
Virtually any mobile device (PDAs, cell phones, etc.) can receive e-mail. Stay in touch with your important office communication by using mail rules to notify your mobile device. This allows you to specify when you will be notified and how much information will be included in the notification.
Send a notification to your mobile device
Most mobile devices have a limit to the number of characters they can receive at once. Use the notify mail rule to define what information will be sent (e.g. date and time, subject, etc.) and the maximum number of characters to send. To add a notify mail rule, follow these steps:
- Access your account from the 602LAN SUITE Web Mail client by opening your web browser to http://servername/mail (”servername” is the name or IP address of your 602LAN SUITE server).
- Type in your 602LAN SUITE user name and password in the appropriate fields and click Login.
- Click Options from the top menu bar, then select Mail Rules.
- Click the Add new mail rule link.
- In the Sender field, type the e-mail address of the sender you want to be notified about.
- Under the Action section, uncheck Stop processing.
- Click the Notify radio button and enter the e-mail address of your mobile device in the To (E-mail) field.
- You may now specify what summary information you would like to send as a part of the message by clicking the appropriate checkboxes (e.g. Date and time, Subject, etc.).
- Click Save, then Save again to save the mail rule.

Organize important messages by moving them to a different folder
After the notification has been sent, it is a good idea to move this message to a different folder so it can be located easily. To add this mail rule, do the following:
- From the Mail Rules configuration page, enter the same sender address from the above section to the Sender field.
- Click the Move to folder radio button, then select the folder to which you would like to move the message from the Target folder select box.
- Click Save, then Save again to save the mail rule.
