Protect your network from suspicious viruses with 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition

Viruses, worms, backdoors, trojan horses and other malicious files, collectively called malware, are a very prevalent problem on the Internet. If you use e-mail, you run a very real risk of being exposed to malware at some point in time. In fact, according to Trend Micro’s World Virus Tracking Centre, ALL of the top ten malicious applications infecting computers are e-mail borne, which means the files come in as an e-mail attachment or even embedded in the e-mail itself! This is why it is so important to have anti-virus protection on your mail server.

Why use 602LAN SUITE 2004 Anti-virus Edition?

602LAN SUITE 2004 Anti-virus Edition offers an affordable, ICSA certified solution for detecting malware sent to the built-in SMTP server AND messages collected from your ISP through 602LAN SUITE’s POP3 collection services. Every message sent through 602LAN SUITE is scanned, regardless if it is incoming or outgoing. This seamless, integrated Anti-virus engine can be set to automatically check for updates as often as every hour, or can be updated manually with a simple click of a button.

Protection from ’suspicious’ viruses

In addition to stopping known malware, 602LAN SUITE Anti-Virus Edition can also be configured to stop suspicious viruses from reaching your users. A suspicious virus is a file that may OR may not carry a malicious attachment or payload, but has code that may facilitate the execution of malware on your computer. Suspicious viruses can also be files that are suspected to be malware, but not enough data has been collected to identify the specific variant. A good example of a suspicious file would be the Exploit.Iframe.Vulnerability. While this Internet Explorer and Outlook/Outlook Express exploit is not malware, it can be used to facilitate the automatic downloading and execution of backdoors, trojans and other malicious files.

By default, the suspicious virus detection option is turned OFF. In order to protect your network against suspicious viruses, take the following steps:

  1. Open 602LAN SUITE 2004, click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
  2. Click the Anti-virus tab.
  3. Click to enable the checkbox 602LAN SUITE anti-virus: Treat suspected messages as infected.

602LAN SUITE - Suspicious viruses

Now any suspicious virus detected by the anti-virus engine will be stopped before it wastes your bandwidth, time, and money. With 602LAN SUITE 2004 Anti-virus Edition, you can rest easy knowing your users and your investment is safe from these harmful programs.
