Use 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition as an anti-virus and anti-spam POP3 gateway
602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition can be used as a POP3 e-mail gateway to filter Internet e-mail before it reaches your local network. It will automatically screen each e-mail message for useless junk e-mail and dangerous viruses. 602LAN SUITE can download e-mail from an unlimited number of external POP3 e-mail accounts and deliver virus and spam free mail directly to local 602LAN SUITE users.
Configure 602LAN SUITE to download external POP3 e-mail
Before you begin, you should set up the anti-virus and Bayesian anti-spam. Instructions for configuring the anti-virus engine can be found here. Instructions for configuring the Bayesian anti-spam filter can be found here. To configure 602LAN SUITE to download POP3 messages, do the following:
- Open 602LAN SUITE.
- Click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the POP3 tab, then click the Add button.
- In the POP3 server field, enter the POP3 server address that was provided by your service provider.
- Enter the Login and Password in the Login name and Password
fields. This information is also provided by your service provider. - Select the account you wish to deliver the filtered messages to from the Received messages deliver to drop-down.
- From the When to check for new mail section, configure how often you would like to check this mailbox for new e-mail.
- Click OK to confirm your POP3 account settings, then Save to save the 602LAN SUITE configuration.

NOTE: E-mail will now be downloaded from your remote POP3 server, processed for spam and viruses, and delivered to the designated local POP3 account in 602LAN SUITE. If you have multiple POP3 accounts, just repeat the instructions above for each account.
Configure 602LAN SUITE to send virus free outgoing e-mail
By using 602LAN SUITE Anti-virus Edition to relay e-mail to your ISP’s SMTP server allows your outgoing messages to be scanned for viruses. This added layer of protection will ensures that you are not a source of unwanted virus distribution. To configure 602LAN SUITE to relay your outgoing mail via your service provider, do the following:
- Open 602LAN SUITE.
- Click Settings, then Advanced Configuration.
- Click the SMTP tab.
- Enter your service provider’s SMTP server address in the ISP’s SMTP server field.
- Click to add a checkmark to the Send outgoing mail via ISP’s SMTP server checkbox.
- Click Save to save your settings.

NOTE: Some ISPs require a special login and password to access their SMTP server. To use an SMTP server that requires this type of authentication, click the Advanced sending parameters button on the SMTP tab, then add a checkmark to the ISP’s SMTP server requires authentication option. Enter your Login and Password as appropriate, then click OK to save your settings.
