Automatically merge files to one Adobe PDF using watched folders
Print2PDF Server Edition can automatically merge print output from the same files names into one Adobe PDF file using the Folder2PDF watched folder application. This will allow you to define hot folders on your network accessible by your users that will provide automatic merging services.
Configure the watched folder
By default, Folder2PDF will never overwrite a file that already exists in the output folder. Once automatic merging has been configured, files with the same name will be merged depending on the defined rules. The example below shows how this can be done:
- Launch Folder2PDF from the Print2PDF Server Edition program group.
- Configure the Source folder, Output folder and Archive to folder options as desired.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Enable Automatically merge and click Edit Merge…
- Select Merge after the last page and uncheck Save a copy of the original file.
- Now click Start to begin the watched folder process.

NOTE: You can save this configuration to an .INI file and use it with the Folder2PDF Windows Service for unattended PDF conversion.
Copy files to the watched folder
Once the watched folder process has been started, any user can copy files to the source folder for conversion. In this example, we will first copy a document named report.doc and then copy a spreadsheet named report.xls. This will result in one Adobe PDF named report.pdf that will contain the output from both source files.

NOTE: Automatic merging will only be performed on files with the same file name (e.g. report.xls, report.txt, report.doc will result in report.pdf).
View result in Adobe Reader
Open report.pdf in Adobe Reader to see the result below:

NOTE: Requires Print2PDF Server Edition build 6.1.07.0503 or higher.
